Asghar Farhadi boycotted the event saying, "I have decided to not attend the Academy Awards ceremony alongside MY FELLOW MEMBER OF THE CINEMATIC COMMUNITY."
For the first time in the Academy's history, each acting category had black actors, with three nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category and three black screenwriters nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay category in the same year. Also nominated was one black director, the fourth in OSCAR HISTORY.
The Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs reacted to the travel ban, saying, "America should always be not a barrier but a beacon and each and every one of us knows that there are some empty chairs in this room which has MADE ACADEMY ARTISTS INTO ACTIVISTS."
"We sincerely apologize to Moonlight, La La Land, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and Oscar viewers for THE ERROR that was made during the award announcement for Best Picture."
"The presenters had mistakenly been given the WRONG CATEGORY ENVELOPE and when discovered, was immediately corrected."

CATATAN...
I love his style.
