As a Global Citizen, I call on you to back targets to halve EU food waste from farm to fork by 2030.

I am proud that Italy and France have shown leadership on food waste in the past. But I am greatly concerned to hear that the European Council have been opposing the European Parliament’s ambitious food waste targets so far – I call on you to reverse this situation, and lead the EU to halve its food waste by 2030.

In the current trialogue discussions on the Waste Framework Directive, I ask you to please gather support from other member states in the European Council for these ambitious proposals:

1)    Introduce targets to halve EU food waste from farm to fork by 2030 — including all food loss and waste from the point food is ready to harvest through to consumer level.

2)    Review making this food waste target binding by 2020, once baseline data is available.

3)    Introduce a food waste hierarchy to prioritise use of food waste across the EU.

4)    Introduce a farm-to-fork definition of food waste.

A food waste reduction target can be set now, because the FLW Platform will have a methodology prepared by 2018 in time for the implementation of the targets by member states in 2019/20. CATATAN PRIBADI... Cukup mengganggu pemikiran saya dalam beberapa jam terakhir, untung ingat akan QS 6:108 di atas. Sebenarnya belajar Al Qur'an itu bukan hanya tentang "benar" dan "salah", tapi untuk mengajak kita lebih "bijak" dalam menyikapi hidup. Di dalam Al Qur'an ada yang namanya sejarah, ada juga hal-hal yang mengarah ke hukum, dsb. Tapi menurut saya, yang lebih penting adalah mengenai "moral". Keyword "EXCLUSIVE RELIGION" di atas memang cukup keras bahasa-nya, namun saya ingat kalimat bahwa "Islam itu Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin". Dalam konteks ini, buat saya pribadi, justru Islam menunjukkan kesan INCLUSIVE RELIGION. Tema INCLUSIVE ini cukup santer di @wef dan membuat saya teringat era 1998 tentunya.

Moral adalah produk dari budaya dan Agama. Setiap budaya memiliki STANDAR MORAL yang berbeda-beda sesuai dengan sistem nilai yang berlaku dan telah terbangun sejak lama.
