John Wick loses his wife Helen to an unspecified illness.
John then receives a Beagle puppy named Daisy, per Helen's instructions, to
help him cope with her death. He gradually connects with the puppy, and they
spend their day driving around in his vintage 1969 Mustang. At a gas station,
he encounters a trio of Russian gang members, whose leader Iosef insists on
buying his car. John refuses to sell it. The three mobsters follow John to his
home and break in late at night. They beat John, knock him unconscious, kill
Daisy, and steal the car.
